The Origin
It Started With
A Wedding Favor.
We were tired of seeing branded matchbooks and koozies end up in the trash on the way out the door. The favors people actually keep are the ones that do something — and the ones that look like the day they came from.
So we set out to make a wedding favor that hits both: a real cocktail, classically made, in a 100mL bottle that can wear your name as well as it wears the recipe. Something that feels personal at the bar and personal on the bar cart six months later.

Spring 2024
The Idea
A conversation at a friend's wedding turned into a sketch on a napkin. What if a wedding favor wasn't just personalized, but actually well-made — a real cocktail, classically distilled, with a label as bespoke as the rest of the day?

Fall 2024
Finding The Distillery
Months of tasting. We partnered with Sono1420 Maritime Distillery in Norwalk, CT — a small-batch maker who shared our standard for craft and our patience for getting it right.

Spring 2025
The First Six
We dialed in our six recipes — Negroni, Margarita, Cosmopolitan, Old Fashioned, Limoncello, Espresso Martini. 22% ABV, 100mL, classics done right.

Summer 2025
The Bottle
Designed our square 100mL glass — a shape that holds a label without bending it, fits a bar cart without crowding it, and travels in a box without breaking.

January 2026
Maux Goes Live
Maux Cocktails opens to weddings, event planners, and corporate gifting. Custom labels, mix-and-match orders, ship-anywhere-we're-licensed.

March 2026
Gold Medal
Took home Gold at the San Francisco Ready to Drink Competition. Validation that the recipes hold up against the canned giants — at a fraction of the volume, by hand.
The Craft

In Norwalk, Connecticut.
Every Maux bottle is small-batch distilled by Sono1420 Maritime Distillery, then labeled, capped, and packed in our studio.
No automated lines. No co-packers. Each label is printed individually and applied by hand. Each batch is tasted before it ships. The only thing that scales here is the number of orders we say yes to.
